Hydrodipping, also known as water transfer printing or hydrographics, is a decorative process that applies complex designs to three-dimensional objects using water as a medium.

Hydrodipping is a surface decorating technology that allows intricate patterns and artwork to be applied to 3D objects, including irregular shapes that traditional printing cannot cover effectively. The process uses a water-soluble PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) film printed with the desired design. When placed on water, the film softens, and an activator is sprayed to liquefy the inks, preparing them to adhere to the object 

the process

  1. Preparation: Clean, sand, or flame-treat the object to ensure proper adhesion. Apply a compatible primer and base coat, especially if the item will be exposed to UV light.

  2. Film Placement: Lay the printed PVA film on the water surface, ensuring it is free of debris and bubbles.

  3. Activation: Spray the activator evenly to dissolve the film into ink while maintaining the pattern.

  4. Dipping: Slowly immerse the object through the floating ink layer, allowing the design to wrap seamlessly around contours.

  5. Rinsing and Drying: Rinse off residual PVA and air-dry the object.

  6. Clear Coating: Apply an automotive-grade clear coat to protect the design, enhance durability, and provide UV and scratch resistance
